Austin has no shortage of funky local gift shops. Here are the best postcard shops in Austin, no matter if you’re visiting for ACL and looking for tourist postcards, or a local searching for postcards by local artists
The Best Postcard Shops for Tourist Postcard
Austin Gift Company – South Lamar
If you’re looking for a huge selection of Texas and Austin themed postcards then look no further than Austin Gift Company. They’ve got vintage, modern, and oversized postcards along with a wide selection of other gifts from local Austin artists. Locals and tourists alike both love this place.
Best Shops for Postcards by Local Artists
Prima Dora – South Congress
A small but funky gift shop located right in the heart of the South Congress district. Not only does Prima Dora have an awesome postcard selection, but they actually have an entire room dedicated to stationery.
Tesoros Trading Company – South Congress
Update – unfortunately, Tesoros Trading Company has closed their retail location, though you can still order from their online store.
Another funky gift shop in the South congress area. Tesoros Trading Company is an unexpected hidden gem for the postcard enthusiast or postcrosser and definitely one of my favorite postcard shops in town. Drop in and check out the beautiful collection of Mexican art postcards, and a great selection of tourist and humor postcards. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Postcard Shops Off the Beaten Path
In an earlier post I talked about some of the less common places to find postcards. If you happen to find yourself in Austin
Half Price Books – South Lamar
There are several Half Price Books locations in Austin, but the South Lamar location has the best postcard selection. The postcards are located in the travel section, right behind their rare books collection.

Uncommon Objects – Ben White
Maybe one of the best postcard shops in Austin if you’re on the hunt for rare and vintage postcards. Many of the cards in my Surprise Postcard Pack come from this store. You have to hunt around a bit and their inventory changes all the time. Be prepared to spend at least an hour here.
