More Sustainable Packaging

I am extremely excited to announce that Surprise Postcards is switching to more sustainable packaging – starting with new recyclable and recycled bubble mailers. Most orders will now arrive in these EcoEnclose padded mailers. I never thought I’d be excited about packaging supplies, but here we are. And let me tell you, these new mailers are amazing.

Packaging Made from Sustainable Materials

Sustainable bubble mailers from EcoEnclose are made from recycled materials and are easily recyclable

Did you know that most bubble mailers contain all virgin materials, and aren’t recyclable at all? That’s because most manufactures use a process that includes gluing poly bubbles to the inside of kraft envelopes. The result is a product with two different materials, which unfortunately means more packaging in landfills ๐Ÿ˜ข

I wanted more sustainable packaging for my shop, which is why I chose EcoEnclose mailers. Ecoenclose manufacture their bubble mailers using 50% recycled content, including 10% post consumer waste.

Even better – if you don’t live near a place that accepts plastic bags for recycling, you can mail these back to EcoEnclose through their plastic film take back program.

Better End of Life Options

You can drop these off for recycling at any location that accepts plastic bags – including most grocery stores.

An even more sustainable option than recycling packaging is to reuse it instead. One of my favorite features of these mailers is that they include two self-sealing adhesive strips. This means that customers can reuse them! This is such a cool idea, I’m surprised more companies haven’t adopted it.

What’s Next?

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be replacing more of my shipping supplies and packaging with more sustainable options. Some of these changes include:

  • Replacing the A9 Envelopes I use for inner packaging with a glassine alternative
  • Replacing the paper I use for invoicing and packing slips with an alternative brand made from 100% post consumer waste
  • Implementing a carbon offset program through Cloverly
  • Offering even more damaged and used postcards – these have been unexpedly popular with customers who use them for scrapbooking, art projects, and in their journals.

Do you want to use more sustainable packaging for your business? If you, you can use my referral code to save $20.00. Please note that I am not sponsored by EcoEnclose, and they did not pay me to write any of this content. I just truly love their products.
