If you’re new to postcrossing, you might be wondering how you can find some new and interesting postcards. I’ve been a postcard collector for a while, and I’d like to tell you about some of the less obvious places to start building your postcard collection

Find Postcards at Museum Gift Shops
If you’re lucky enough to live in a larger city, changes are you have access to a museum or art gallery. This is one of my favorite places to pick up Postcrossing cards. I found this LBJ postcard at the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum here in Austin Texas. I often find some of my favorite postcards at these places, and some of my most liked postcrossing postcards have come from the humble gift shop. You can see a lot of these postcards on my Instagram (and everywhere else that I post)
If you’t live near a museum, try checking to see if they have an online gift shop. The MoMA online gift shop has a great selection
Look Through Used Book Stores
You can often find a treasure trove of inexpensive postcards at used bookstores. I ounce found a whole pile of postcards for $0.10 each at Half Price Books. The same is also true for vintage clothing and antique stores.

Order Postcards Online
The two most popular places online to find postcards are Instagram and Etsy. Following the #postcrossing and #postcards on Instagram is a great place to start – you’ll find lots of passionate postcrossers. Many of them will even swap postcards with you, which is a great way to add some variety to your collection.
You can also get postcards from my online shop. If you can’t decide what to choose try ordering a surprise postcard for just $1 each and let me pick out some cool cards for you.
To Find Postcards, Take the Path Less Traveled
There’s a lot more to the world than just gift shops. Try finding postcards at places you normally wouldn’t expect – you might find your next favorite card there.
